The Coaching Process

Coaching is a process by which you are guided and advised in your journey to reach your goals. Those goals can be quite diverse, and may include…

  • Achieving general English language fluency
  • Feeling confident in business interactions
  • Strengthening interpersonal relationships through communication
  • Building familiarity with American culture and norms
  • and more. …

With coaching, you will not only develop and strengthen the skills necessary to reach your most ambitious objectives, but also build the confidence, strategy, and focus needed to transform those goals into a reality.

The coaching process follows a structured and collaborative approach to help you improve your skills and performance in target domains. Coaching aims to empower you to excel in desired areas, enhance your performance, and achieve your desired outcomes.

While the coaching process may vary depending on your specific needs, the overall steps involved generally include:

Initial Assessment and Goal Setting

The coaching process begins with an initial assessment of your current abilities and challenges related to communication or business skills. We will discuss specific objectives and set clear, achievable milestones that you aim to accomplish through coaching.

Identification of Strengths and Areas for Improvement

We will identify your strengths and areas that need improvement. This step involves gathering feedback from you and conducting assessments and/or evaluations to gain a comprehensive understanding of your current skills.

Action Planning

Together, we create a tailored action plan to address your identified areas for improvement and growth. The plan outlines specific steps, strategies, and resources that will be utilized during your coaching journey.

Coaching Sessions

Coaching sessions focus on developing target skills for practical application and achievement of milestones. Regular coaching sessions are scheduled, during which I provide you with support, guidance, and personalized feedback. Coaching agendas may include:

  • Skill development such as practicing presentations, analyzing and improving verbal or written communications, and enhancing vocabulary
  • Role-playing relevant scenarios such as client meetings, team discussions, contract negotiations, and interviews
  • Cultural sensitivity training to become familiar with cultural norms and understand the cultural nuances of communication
  • Targeted exercises to address specific skills such as tone and interpretation, sentence structure, grammar, the use of various parts of speech, and context-appropriate use of vocabulary and expressions
  • Reflection to assess and analyze progress toward future milestones, and identify both internal and external challenges that may be hindering your progress
  • Post-session assignments to reinforce and crystallize new skills, and prepare you for upcoming sessions

These sessions can be conducted in person, over the phone, or through video conferencing, depending on your preferences and availability.

Overcoming Challenges

Throughout the coaching process, I assist you in overcoming obstacles and challenges that may arise. We work together to find solutions and strategies for handling difficult situations effectively.

Accountability and Progress Tracking

I hold you accountable for taking action towards your goals. Regular progress tracking helps us both assess the effectiveness of each strategy and make adjustments to the action plan as you progress through your goals.

Feedback and Reflection

I provide continuous, real-time feedback on your progress and performance, and provide opportunities for reflection so you can evaluate your own growth and discuss challenges and successes with me.

Integration and Application

The coaching process encourages you to integrate your newly acquired skills into your daily life, work environment, and relationships. This helps ensure that the progress made during coaching becomes a sustainable part of your behavior and practices.

Closure and Follow-up

As the coaching process comes to an end, we reach a closure phase. During this time, we discuss the overall outcomes and celebrate your achievements. In some cases, follow-up sessions may be scheduled to provide future support and reinforcement.
